From what I can see, your 3D printer rig seems to be one of the best out there. Built from high quality components and you still maintain a very reasonable sell price. I've been actively looking for projects like this but it took me quite a while to find your website.

What I would like to know is how do you accomplish such short focal distances with those projectors listed in your shop. Do you have to heavily modify the optics or does it work out of the box with stock lenses?

The reason why I'm asking is that I coincidently just ordered a BenQ W1070 and I'm so tempted to try it with your rig but I don't know whether I can do the needed modifications all by my self.

BenQ and Optoma as well as Dell have a relatively short throw lens. In the case of Dell you would need to open up the projector lens assembly and remove a stopper piece, which would allow you to focus closer to the target.

I was fortunate enough that my Optoma HD803 has a short throw lens and a simple mod was needed to make it work. Depending on how close your projector would be, the lens assembly would need the relative modification. BenQ w1070 has a relatively short throw and a simple mod on the lens stopper is required. The BenQ w108st (not in the shop and is not cheap) has an even shorter throw.
