Hello,

When I download design materials from the repository, I can see the HW schematic for the sensor part, but there is no relating sw code for it.
I don't understand why it is omitted.
Is it a separate one ?

Suddenly, I was getting serious.

Y Jung

Sorry about that. I did write the code and begun testing it with the rest of the system but then after all what happened i started working on the second version of the device (the one that is going to be printed through 3D) and redesigned the sensor and many other modules.

Unfortunately the code for the sensor was incomplete so i didn't get the chance to upload it. In general the module sends its data for all 3 sensors through I2C and receives some commands for calibration.

I shall upload a more complete list of files once i begin working on the OSRc again once the 3D printer is complete.

Thanks for your reply anyway, but how can I understand this situation ...

You were started for the open source RC controller, but now you have to concentrate on the 3D printer in order to make RC controller housing itself. and most of the open source community people have to wait for your flag without any indication of milestone.

If we were a fisherman, we need to pay attention to the fishing, not for building a ship for the fisherman.

Of course, it's up to you to decide the priority, but I long as I know, open source community can not be a one man show.

Pls, let the people do the contribution to the community, at least in parallel with your shipyard project.

Dear yjung,

If you followed the project from its early days you would know that i designed the system with whatever funds were available and it wasn't cheap. Unlike Software, a project like OSRC needs to be prototyped, debugged and tested before any production can begin. Since the budget for the project is limited, i do not have the luxury to play with Dev boards if i want to truly push the OSRC project forwoard and present a reliable product in the end.

I am sure that the Open Source community shall understand that to contribute to the Open Source project like OSRC, you need to HAVE the OSRC to test on and truly do any sort of development. I do have plans to distribute the system to developers who shall be helpful towards the project free of charge in the future beside all other users who shall purchase the system but in order to do that the product must be actually available and in quantities that can truly make a difference.

If the production of the system is not made then no matter what plans i or others have, it shall all be words in the wind since there will be no one to play with the unit, noon to test your code and no developer to keep doing it for free :)

A description of the OSRC history can also be found in this blog: Where To Buy

I do understand that everyone is quite eager to get their hands on the OSRC but unless i do this right and think everything through correctly as well as manage the available budget properly, no matter how great the project is, it shall never see the light of day.

You should not forget that i do not think there is an Open Source project more complex than OSRC right now so truly, you cannot compare to any other product since i doubt it would be possible without the steps i am taking right now.

PS: A fisherman may not think about the boat but he shall definitely need nets or a fishing stick to catch fish :)

Dear OSFlyerWis,

I've never meant to hurt you, or complaining, but...

Let's see the fact as it is

I would follow your efforts and fill out if there's anything to be added more for the other people...

You have the right to keep your confidential's, I agree.

You posted open source and opened many information to the public,
I would like to add more (if I could) for the other followers because you are worth it...

But now, you are talking about another story,

I remember someone posted in this site "is it open source, the open it!"

because you are not alone.

Dear yjung,

No offense taken. I shall write this reply to everyone who shall read it so please don't consider this as a direct reply to your query since i respect and cherish every member.

Most of the files for the OSRC prototype are located in the Files section. Files that aren't there are not posted because i have any sort of confidentiality issues, i just didn't have time to post them since at this point i am the only one who can actually test the code and make alterations to it. So it was more about time constrains and my own availability since as you can imagine i do have tons of things to do.

Since i am currently working in a second version for the system (mentioned in the news), i didn't see any reason in posting old archives and confuse anyone. Once there is actually something concrete to post i shall upload the files immediately, that's a promise.

A Short reply to everyone who wants to dive into the code and help me out would be:

Hold on a bit. Let me finish the framework and base for the system so i know that it is reliable and can be distributed and then jump in with your own contributions.

I could keep replying endlessly about this topic and try to explain to everyone that without a product that can be distributed freely the "Open Source" part of it is useless since most of the code is specifically written for the OSRC hardware. Unfortunately however i will not go further into this discussion since there are many aspects which i have organized in my head and need to be done before contributions to the system can begin through the community.

Since OSRC is a full time job for me and my living depends on it, i prefer to finish everything and present the final product to the world before i engage the community in its future development.
I remember someone posted in this site "is it open source, the open it!"

Yes indeed there is a thread with that name and you can find it here

Unfortunately however i am sad to say that the user who posted the topic, did so with false registration info, without any intend to contribute and clearly was trolling away at someones work. That user has been banned automatically by the site after many attempts of confirmation requests. As you may have noticed, i didn't delete or block the topic. I didn't because i want everyone to discuss the subject and contribute to the project in being the best Open Source control out there, however the contributions must be constructive and objective.

Since the Open Source discussion has been presented to me countless times over the many years i have been doing it, i simply get tired some times in convincing someone about my intentions. All i can say is:

Yes, OSRC Is Open Source. If you don't believe it, don't like it or don't want to contribute it's your problem, can't please everyone. :)

Once again, please don't consider this as a direct reply to your query. Since this discussion has gone waay off topic, i would suggest creating a new one if you have any further questions about something you might need or want to contribute.
