If I were to create an FPV setup, and I wanted a very long range, could I have a module or sensor that just extended the range for my transmitter? Maybe something light, that is self sustaining? And, do you have anything like this already created?

EDIT: You can feel free to move this post to the FPV module, I just figured that this may be more of a standalone sensor vs something only for FPV.

You can boost the signal with a Signal Booster :) No need for a special module to do this. Many people use a Bi Directional booster on their setups to increase the signal to 1W or more. Look at "Signal Booster" on Google. Don't forget to choose the one suited for your band range (2.4GHz or 5.8GHz)

I was thinking more of a several mile trip around things (such as tall trees, or a heavy urban setting) where LOS was a problem, but you still wanted FPV and personal control of the vehicle. I could give my friend on the 12th floor of a building a signal relay, and do the same for my friends around town, and then just have it land at one of the farthest destinations. So I guess it would just be a receiver synced to the transmitter, and then another 1W signal booster on that module.... Im just asking for very long distances.. maybe several miles with obstructions.

What signal do you want to boost? Your Video or your Controller?

You can extend your range of the Control and model with the OSRC RF Cloud system.

For video you need to get creative :) Most people can fly as far as 15km or more with just a simple 1W setup. For more distance you need to have something like repeaters to do the job.

Alternatively you can have video through the GSM network on OSRC but it won't be real time. In any case there are several options.

Ideally you can purchase a satellite channel and go for the advanced stuff but unless you are from the military i don't know why you would need so much distance :)
